Accessibility Statement
What we aim for, where we fall short today, and how to tell us when something does not work for you. Last updated .
What we aim for
We are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across hearso.com and the games inside it. Working towards, not conforming to: we have not yet run the full manual review that a claim of conformance needs, and we would rather say so.
What is in place
These are things the product does today, not intentions:
- The footer names each of its columns as a landmark, so a screen reader can move between them.
- A control that has keyboard focus is outlined, and the outline's contrast is checked by automated tests.
- The colours in the product's design tokens are checked for contrast by automated tests, in the dark theme and the light one.
- Motion follows your device's reduced-motion setting, and signed-in players have a Reduce motion switch in Settings that holds even when the device does not ask.
- A profile photo can be reframed with sliders as well as by dragging.
- Our browser tests scan the main public pages, the privacy policy and the terms among them, with axe, and fail on serious problems such as a field with no label. A wider sweep over every page at many screen sizes runs on demand.
What is not right yet
Being open about the gaps is part of this statement. As of the date above:
- A trivia question runs on a ten-second timer, which is part of the game, and there is no way yet to extend it or turn it off. The host can lengthen the pause after each answer, but not the question itself.
- We have not yet tested every page with a screen reader from start to finish.
- We have not yet checked that every game sound has a visual equivalent.
Tell us
If something on Hearso does not work for you, use the contact page and put "accessibility" at the start of your message. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and, if you know them, the browser and assistive technology you use.
How this statement was prepared
By the people who build Hearso, from the design system and the automated checks in our tests. No manual review with screen readers has been done yet.
